Avoca Wart & Verruca Treatment Kit — Silver Nitrate Caustic Pencil Set
Got a Stubborn Wart or Verruca? Avoca Removes It at Home in Days
Warts and verrucas are caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) entering the skin through a small cut or abrasion. They're highly contagious and spread quickly — so the sooner you treat them, the better. The Avoca Wart & Verruca Treatment Kit gives you everything you need to treat them safely and effectively at home, without a doctor's visit.
How It Works
Avoca uses a Silver Nitrate Caustic Pencil (95% Silver Nitrate BP with 5% Potassium Nitrate BP) to chemically destroy the granulation tissue of the wart or verruca. It works by penetrating the wart tissue and breaking it down until it disappears — no cutting, no freezing, no pain.
What's in the Kit
- ✅ Avoca Caustic Pencil — 95% Silver Nitrate in a blue recyclable plastic holder with push-on cap
- ✅ Emery File — to prepare the surface of the wart before treatment
- ✅ Full Instructions — step-by-step guidance for safe and effective use
What It Can Treat
- ✅ Common warts (hands, fingers, face)
- ✅ Verrucas / plantar warts (soles of feet, toes)
- ✅ Corns and calluses
- ✅ Excess granulation tissue from healing wounds
How to Use
- File the surface of the wart gently with the emery file to remove dead skin
- Place the pencil point in one drop of water for about 20 seconds
- Carefully apply the water on the pencil tip to the surface of the wart only — do not press hard
- Allow to dry before contact with clothing or other surfaces
- Replace the cap and store dry after each use
- Repeat until the wart or verruca has fully disappeared
Important Safety Information
- ⚠️ For external use only — do not use on genital warts or near eyes
- ⚠️ Avoca is caustic — avoid contact with healthy surrounding skin, clothing, and furniture as it will stain and may burn
- ⚠️ Staining: water containing Avoca will stain most surfaces. Stains on skin disappear within a few days
- ⚠️ Diabetics should consult a doctor before treating a wart or verruca
- ⚠️ Pregnancy/breastfeeding: consult your doctor before use
- Keep out of reach of children and pets
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it painful?
Avoca is generally painless when used correctly. Avoid pressing too hard on the pencil tip and keep it away from healthy skin.
How long does treatment take?
Results vary depending on the size and depth of the wart. Most warts respond within a few applications, but stubborn or deep verrucas may require repeated treatments over several days or weeks.
Will it stain my skin?
Yes — any skin touched by water containing Avoca will turn black temporarily. This fades naturally within a few days as the skin renews.
Can I use it on a child?
Always seek pharmacist or doctor advice before using on children. The pencil is fragile — handle with care.
Always read the label and use strictly as directed. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult your pharmacist or doctor. Our Pakuranga pharmacists are happy to help — call us on 09 577 2616.
