Aptamil AllerPro Syneo Stage 2 is a hypoallergenic infant formula for babies from 6 months with confirmed mild to moderate cows' milk protein allergy (CMPA) and/or soy protein allergy. It contains extensively hydrolysed whey protein — broken down into small peptides that are much less likely to trigger an allergic response — combined with a synbiotic blend of prebiotics (GOS/FOS) and probiotics (Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG and Bifidobacterium breve M-16V) to support immune balance.

What is the difference between Aptamil AllerPro Syneo Stage 1 and Stage 2?

Stage 1 (0–6 months) is for newborns and young infants with confirmed CMPA. Stage 2 (6–12 months) is a follow-on formula for older infants who have started solid foods but still require hypoallergenic formula as part of their diet.

What does "extensively hydrolysed" mean?

Extensively hydrolysed formula (eHF) has the cow's milk proteins broken down into very small fragments (peptides) through a process called hydrolysis. These small fragments are much less likely to trigger an allergic immune response than intact or partially hydrolysed proteins.

Does my baby need a prescription for Aptamil AllerPro Syneo?

In New Zealand, Aptamil AllerPro Syneo is available over the counter, but it should only be used following diagnosis of CMPA by a healthcare provider. Some cases may qualify for Pharmac funding with a prescription — discuss this with your GP or paediatrician.

My baby is on Stage 1 — when do I switch to Stage 2?

Can I mix Aptamil AllerPro Syneo with food?

Yes. Stage 2 can be used in cooking and food preparation (e.g. in porridge or vegetable purees) as well as bottle feeding. This is a good way to increase dairy protein exposure in older infants on an allergen introduction programme — discuss with your dietitian.
